5 (More) Things I’ve Learned From The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is full of life lessons for when/if a zombie apocalypse occurs. Here are 5 more things that I’ve learned from The Walking Dead on how to survive.

1 – Heroes Just Die Quicker

You’ll probably run into people that need your help, but is it really worth risking your life? Sure more people to bolster your numbers couldn’t hurt, but wading into a sea of walkers will probably just get you killed. You’re probably better off letting the walkers finish them off and come back later to see what supplies are left behind. Look at Merle Dixon, the moment he tried being a hero instead of a survivor is when he died.

2 – When I Say Horsepower, I Mean Horse-Power

Sure there are plenty of vehicles and gas sitting around, but how long is that going to last? Over time gas breaks down, and if you use it in an engine it will ruin the car, so a horse just might be your most reliable form of transportation. Plus, if you’re really short on food, I doubt people would be opposed to horse-burgers.

3 – Food is Fuel, Not Flavor

When Carl ate that giant can of pudding during season 4 it probably tasted great, but look at it from a survival angle, you don’t know when your going to have your next meal so eat up those calories when you find them.

4 – Trust Nobody, Because You’ll Probably Never Really Know Them

Kill em all

Really, who are these people you have been traveling with, and will you ever know truly who they are? Hell, did anyone really know the Governor? He was able to manipulate two different groups to do what he wanted, and kill living people even when they were offered to share the prison. Something like the zombie apocalypse gives people the opportunity the change who they are and leave their past behind.

5 – Grow Up Quick and Leave the Kid Games Behind

Being a kid is probably the toughest situation in the zombie apocalypse. But in that situation, you need to grow up quick, else you’re probably going to die or get someone else killed. Look at Meghan, she was was locked away with her family, and when the Governor finally took them out of that building she died playing in some mud. When you look at the prison group, Carol took it upon herself to teach the kids about knives and other weapons, that way they would be able to defend themselves. Kid games will just get you killed.
